The cost of living has skyrocketed for millions of Kenyans as a result of rising food and fuel prices, which have caused inflation to increase for the fourth consecutive month to 8.3 percent this month.
Inflation rose to a 61-month high, according to data issued by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), despite government subsidies on essential goods and tax breaks that were implemented during the month.

The cost of food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 15.3 percent from July of last year, transportation costs increased by 7 percent, and the cost of housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels increased by 5.6 percent.
